 From the 2008 Crash to Vice President: 

Out of college, a friend and I started an interior design business that closed in 2008 when the market crashed. I worked in finance for six years before realizing my true passion was design. I came across an ad on Craigslist for a bookkeeping position at Medford Remodeling, accepted the job, and over six years have risen to my present position. Mike Medford, Sr. is company president. I was quite intimidated by Mike when I first started because of his blunt communication style, but I quickly found that he has a deep passion for sharing his knowledge. He has become a trusted mentor who has impacted my career and continues to motivate and educate me as I grow with the company.

We are in the third year of Mike’s 10-year succession plan to transition the company to the next generation. Last year, he turned over day-to-day operations of the Design-Build division to me, and the operations of the Mike’s Guys handyman division to his son Mike, Jr. He is now training Mike, Jr. and myself to eventually assume his responsibilities running the business side of the company.
