According to Robert Daniels, executive director of the Tile Council USA, more than 1.8 billion square feet of tile was sold in the United States in 1998, up from 1.6 billion in 1997. Of the 1998 sales, about 22 percent were floor tiles sold for remodeling projects. About two-thirds of all tile sold in the United States is floor tile
