A Million-Dollar Business' Dorm-Room Beginnings
I started my business in grad school, out of my dorm room. It launched my first semester and by the second semester, I had eight part-time employees.
In the beginning, I didn't have the funds to invest in all the right equipment. So I began with my old pickup truck with an uncovered bed and had to store all of my tools in my dorm room. I would haul them up two flights of stairs every single day.
I got married during grad school and my wife helped me kickstart the business. She invested countless hours into business strategy and customer relations. We worked tirelessly from our basement for 6 years. We then purchased our first brick-and-mortar location in 2017 and have been steadily growing ever since.
I like to think my humble beginnings have helped me stay humble as the business has grown.
