Best Practice: During a remodel, the handoff of a project from design to the production team is a critical transition. With that in mind, Van Houten came up with a system to keep things from falling through the cracks. Before anyone picks up a hammer, all of the trades attend a meeting at the home with the project manager and the homeowner. They look over the property, make sure that all product selections will work, and supply final bids. Once the contract is signed, a final walk-through takes place with Van Houten, the lead, and the homeowner. All final details are discussed at that meeting from where the dog should stay to how the homeowner prefers to be updated—phone, text, or email. This system has helped keep everyone informed and has enhanced customer service.
