Not many homes or projects have detailed framing plans, and according to building science expert Allison Bailes, this only leaves more work for later.
Bailes shares a picture of a garage under construction in Georgia, which has I-joists make up the ceiling framing. “It’s not a simple matter to do the blocking and air sealing required here,” Bailes writes. “Yes, it can be done, but it’s going to be a lot of work.”
According to Bailes, they could have used a solid piece of wood instead of having joists running right across the wall.
