Members of the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky’s Registered Remodelors Council renovated approximately 2,800 square feet of office space for the New Hope Center, a facility located in Edgewood, Ky., that gives advice, support and medical treatment to expectant mothers. New Hope Center provides free pregnancy tests, assists clients in making plans for adoption if necessary, and provides maternity and baby items.
In addition, the center’s volunteers work with the young women and teens to develop life skills such as decision-making, self-esteem enhancement, personal discipline, and responsibility. The New Hope Center also gives its clients information on STDs and encourages abstinence.
"Some unplanned pregnancies can ultimately yield neglected and abused children who stand little chance of becoming productive members of society," says Marty Grosser, President of the HBA of Northern Kentucky’s Registered Remodelors’ Council. "The New Hope Center gives these women the skills they will need to become good mothers. And it suggests alternatives such as adoption to women who are completely unprepared for the responsibility of motherhood."
Members of the council donated a majority of labor, materials and funding needed to complete the renovation. In addition, members of the Women’s Council of the HBA of Northern Kentucky contributed 60 percent of the proceeds from their annual golf outing fund-raiser to the project.
