Process Manager
Hatfield Builders & Remodelers, Plano, Texas
2016 Revenue: $3 million
13 employees
Best Practice: In 2016, Hatfield developed a series of checklists designed to prevent slippage and to keep homeowners informed. The lists are in binders and include a client handbook, internal checklist, and project manager list. The client’s binder contains FAQs, photos of everyone on the team, tips for preparing for construction, and so on. The internal checklist features photos, floor plans, product selections, and myriad other details. The project manager’s binder is more geared toward actual construction, including scope of work, a vendor list, and change orders. Taken together, the binders offer a comprehensive look at a single project. “In the past, we’ve had a problem with inspectors knowing Schluter Systems products, so now we even have a section on that company,” Hatfield says.
