The high initial price of LED bulbs tends to scare away homeowners, but with this simple chart, perhaps you can convince them why it’s better to opt for LED.

The Green Building Elements blog uses a study by an Adjunct Professor at the University of Hawaii that presents the breakeven point of CFLs, LEDs and incandescent bulbs in a table.

An LED light is still shining brightly long after  incandescent bulbs have had to be changed. By three years, LEDs can surpass the lifespan of runner-up CFL bulbs.

In fact, the price of LED bulbs have dropped by 30 percent since the research was written, making it an even more cost-effective lighting solution that is also good for the environment.
