An Innovative and Inspirational Leader: Mark McClannahan's Remodeling Mastery
The Remodeling Mastery Award was created by Mark Richardson—former president and co‑chairman of Case Design-Remodeling and a senior fellow at Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies—to acknowledge a remodeling leader who exemplifies Innovation, Inspiration, and Impact. This year, Mark presented the award at his Design Build Forum—a gathering of the top design-build companies in North America—hosted by Neal's Design Remodel in Cincinnati.
The 2026 Remodeling Mastery Award winner is Mark McClananhan, CEO/President of Mosby Building Arts, who has not only grown the business by over 300% in the last 10 years but also created a world-class leadership team and structure that includes several women and new voices in the business.
We often refer to someone as a “rock star” when they are really good at something. In the case of Mark, he actually is one (a professional rock musician and music producer). He also weaves his passions for sports into growing a growth-oriented client base for the remodeling business.
Mark’s innovative thinking on the future of AI and his inspiration to his team and the industry make him very worthy of this honor.
Mark's acceptance speech:
"I'm deeply honored to receive this recognition. I've spent my life in two worlds that seem different but operate the same way. Music and home remodeling both reward preparation, collaboration, and the courage to create something from nothing. But if this award reflects anything real, it reflects the 130+ people at Mosby Building Arts, as none of this is possible without them. We're building something here that's bigger than any one person, and that's exactly the point."
Like any great leader, McClannahan greets success by looking out the window to all the people who made it happen, and the mirror when things go wrong.
