GOLD Outdoor Living over $100,000
CG&S Design-Build, Austin, Texas

Avid gardeners and bird watchers sought a place to relax within the confines of their city lot. CG&S Design-Build of Austin, Texas designed an L-shaped set of screen porches that the couple can use year round for dining and reading. One part minimalist and one part rustic; the screen porch additions are connected to the house by a set of multi-slide doors in the kitchen and great room area of the existing structure. When opened, the doors lead to a screened-in eating area set on stained concrete floors below a sloping, exposed-beam ceiling comprised of dark amber Ipe, a Brazilian hardwood. Floral-patterned lites within a set of French doors lead to a flat, grassy outdoor room that is framed by a tasteful grid of twinkling white lights that make the space come alive at night.
