Top 100 Products 2022: Decks, Porches, & Railings

Products from AGS Stainless, Deckorators, SunTech, Fortress Building Products, Perma-Column, and Trex

This article first appeared in the July/August 2022 issue of Pro Remodeler.

cascadia railing

AGS Stainless

AGS Stainless’ Cascadia is a stainless steel-bar railing system that remodelers can install with minimal modifications at a price point closer to the aluminum options. Before, remodelers often had to hire a local metal fabricator to offer a quality steel railing, but this system is pulled from a dealer’s inventory and can be installed in one day. The railing components are made of marine-grade stainless steel.

deckorators

Deckorators

Deckorators' Trailhead is an entry-level, low-maintenance wood-plastic composite decking line. Trailhead products come with a 25-year removal and replacement warranty. The composite decking boards come in three colors: Ridgeline (gray), Pathway (brown) and Canyon (red-brown) with natural, flat-grain embossing. Solid or grooved-edge Trailhead boards in 12-, 16- and 20-foot sizes are available, and the line is compatible with Deckorators Pro Plug Fasteners.

exxen suntech

SunTech

SunTech’s Exxen claims to be the world’s longest fully-retractable bioclimatic system. The high-end, fully retractable pergola features sun, wind, and rain sensors that help redefine the outdoors. The modular system is custom-built to be adapted to various types of application areas such as terraces or balconies and is customizable with lighting, insulation, and edge-covering options.

fortress decking

Fortress Building Products

Fortress Building Products uses a proprietary tri-extrusion process to create Apex decking, a UV-, fade-, and moisture-resistant PVC-composite with the look of tropical hardwoods. Foam-core boards are reinforced with co-extruded, bamboo-plastic. The company says the board shapes will remain consistent and expand and contract 25% less than other PVC boards.

perma column

Perma-Column

Perma-Column says its precast deck posts remove the need to mix and pour concrete. Instead, pros can utilize the deck posts in conjunction with AG-CO’s FootingPad composite footers. This reduces project time, cost, and needed labor. The columns are ICC-ES-certified and the company says the product is three times stronger than standard concrete. Perma-Column says the precast deck posts are also an environmentally friendly solution, coming from 100% recycled materials and no toxic chemicals. The structure additionally keeps treated wood from the soil, preventing chemicals from leaching out.

trex decking

Trex

Trex strives to offer professionals a one-stop shop for all decking needs. Trex offers four composite decking lines from lower-priced options with Enhance, all the way up to premium decking with its Transcend collections. Each board comes from 95% post-consumer plastic film and reclaimed sawdust, and are made in the USA. Trex composite decking comes with a 25-year limited residential and fade and stain warranties.
