1. DuraLife

Deck installation time can be cut in half, according to DuraLife, maker of the patent-pending Step-Clip system. No extra measuring, spacing, or grabbing for fasteners required, and installers spend less time bending up and down with this system. The four-board-wide strips interlock along each joist and can be installed with a hammer or roofing nail gun. The strip protects the top of the joist from water damage, rot, and decay.

XTESA PLAIN, the new minimalist pergola with winding fabric, is KE Outdoor Design’s “light” version of XTESA. Perfect for installations in extreme architectural environments, it’s able to reach considerable overhangs with limited slopes. It resists wind and water, and protects against sun rays. It can be equipped with climatic sensors that regulate fabric movement based on weather conditions and is manageable through a smartphone or tablet app. The pergola is made for quick, easy installation.

National Nails’ CAMO brand offers its new Starter Clips as a solution to face-fastening the first and last board of grooved deck projects. Using Starter Clips with CAMO EdgeClip and EdgeXClip, contractors can create a fastener-free deck surface that installs in half the time of other clip systems, according to the company. For an installation that’s five times faster, they can use the CAMO DRIVE tool and its clip guide to fasten EdgeClips and EdgeXClips.

4. Royal Building Products

New PVC Column Wraps by Royal Building Products, a Westlake company, make it easy to update a home’s porch. The wraps resist moisture, preventing problems such as rotting, warping, and insect damage. They come in a white finish, but can be painted to complement a home’s exterior. The wraps can fit around 4x4, 6x6, 8x8 or 12x12 structural posts; two standard lengths, 8’6” and 10’, are also available. Backed by a 25-year warranty.

5. TimberTech AZEK

Besides its existing, standard-width deck boards, the TimberTech AZEK portfolio now includes the Vintage Collection, which offers two new widths: wide and narrow. It gives homeowners the ability to customize their decks with boards in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors. The collection features a wire-brushed, low-gloss texture and six colors. The three widths include narrow (3½-inch), standard (5½-inch), and wide (7¼-inch). Shown: MultiWidth Vintage-Coastline.

6. Trex

Trex Co. has announced new decking and railing offerings. The updated Enhance composite decking collection includes Enhance Basics in Clam Shell, Beach Dune, and Saddle hues. Enhance Naturals (shown) introduces these colors resembling natural wood: Foggy Wharf, Toasted Sand, Rocky Harbor, Coastal Bluff, and Sunset Cove. Enhance products won’t warp, crack, rot, or splinter and maintenance is hassle-free, per the company. Also, six of the most popular Transcend railing combinations now come in packaged kits.
