Projected 2023 Revenue: $4 million

On delegating: When I started, I was in the field every day, doing everything for managing the business. I started delegating more, which I should have been doing already, and really focused my time on what I do best, which is sales. Since then, we’ve not only grown revenue, but tripled net profit.

Employee growth: We have a training program internally. We decided that there’s already a labor shortage out there, let’s figure out how to work with what we’ve got. And we always try to provide a ladder of promotion and letting employees know what they need to do, and can do, to get to that next level. We’re members of a few remodeling associations and those associations provide new training, so we give them access to those. If employees have a personal situation, I leave an open door for them to come to me and try to work through a system to get them where they want to be both personally and professionally. We also provide cross training. It’s another aspect we’ve looked to nail down, having certain personnel cross-trained on other personnel tasks. If someone were to get injured, there’s no gap there. Somebody else can step up.

Leadership style: I have a strong core belief that if my employees feel like they’re part of the company, invested in the company, that not only will they work harder, but we will as a team, work harder and grow stronger. Everyone takes a DISC assessment, which allows us to figure out how to communicate better with each other.
