Window manufacturer Pella debuted its latest innovation at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas this February. It’s a new way to install windows, promising 3.15x faster installations by just one person.
The Steady Set interior installation system includes pre-attached components for an easy-to-learn install.
Components include:
• A head stabilizer that temporarily stabilizes the window and holds it in place prior to fastening. This means a second person isn’t needed for this task.
• A flashing fin with continuous corners, making flashing a two-step process. The flashing has a flexible hinge to adapt to wall variations, and the bottom fin offers a textured surface for better water management.
• A shim guide on the jambs ensures consistent frame-to-sash reveals and holds shims in the correct location.
• Flip and click installation brackets do just what their name implies: these brackets need to be unclipped, flipped, and clicked to become install-ready, then the brackets securely attach the window to the rough opening.
• A sill shim raises the window off the rough opening sill to create space for foam or sealant, but installers can also insert tools using the shim.
Pella also says the Steady Set installation system protects installers by limiting their exposure to ladder work, heavy units, and bad weather installs. It reduces ladder work by 74%.
