Poll: Thoughts on ICE?
The article in our March/April issue authored by a Minneapolis remodeler who detailed ICE brutality and its fallout on local jobsites, the remodeling market, and the local economy, struck a nerve with readers. The piece highlighted a stark reality: When armed federal agents conduct aggressive actions in communities, it blurs the line of safety and directly threatens the foundation of trust required for homeowners to invite remodeling crews onto their property. “If a roofer can be brutalized on the sidewalk at a strip mall, can MY roofer be brutalized on the sidewalk outside my home?”
The responses we received ranged from heartfelt gratitude for shedding light on the human and business costs of these actions, to outrage and threats to cancel subscriptions. We stand by our decision to both publish this piece and protect the author’s identity from retaliation; we also want to take the pulse of our wider readership.
