Company has joined with Solutia, Inc. to provide windows made with KeepSafe glass. The glass consists of a tough polyvinyl butyral plastic interlayer that is bonded between two pieces of glass under heat and pressure. Milgard has incorporated KeepSafe into its product lines of vinyl, fiberglass and WoodClad windows. The glass provides a combination of sound protection, UV protection and safety. The plastic interlayer serves as in impact resistant barrier to wayward baseballs, rocks or other objects. The window might crack but the shards tend to adhere to the interlayer, keeping the window intact. The glass also filters out 99 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Warranty: Lifetime.
