The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is kicking off Safe + Sound Week, running August 11-17, 2025. The annual event sees OSHA working with businesses across the country to promote and celebrate the successes of workplace safety and health programs, as well as provide education on continued efforts to keep America’s workers safe.
Adoption of these effective safety measures allows businesses to better identify and manage workplace hazards and prevent injury or illness, making the business more sustainable and improving their bottom line.
This year’s focus for Safe + Sound Week is highlighting emergency preparedness and response, recognizing that emergencies can happen anywhere at any time. Workplace emergencies are unexpected events that pose a risk to workers, customers, or the public, disrupts or shuts down operations, and can cause physical or environmental damage.
OSHA plans to provide resources during the event to help businesses stay informed, develop an effective emergency action plan, and prepare to respond in the event of an emergency.
Organizations of all sizes across any industry can participate in Safe + Sound Week, with the turnout last year reaching over 5,000 businesses participating.
