Kodiak Interiors Group Launches with a Focus on Appliances and Interiors

Leading building materials distributor Kodiak Building Partners (KBP) has just announced Kodiak Interiors Group (KIG), a new independent business that has come about through the sale of Kodiak’s appliances and interiors portfolio. KIG will be an independent operation to focus in on the appliance and interiors market and will include existing operating companies that specialize in interiors. These companies include Arizona Appliance & Home, Don’s Appliances, FBS Appliance and Specialty Appliance.

Jeff Smith is to take on the role of CEO at KIG, which went into effect July 8. Succeeding Smith’s previous role as CFO of KBP is Brian Huss. Darius McCurty is joining Smith as CFO of KIG alongside Greg Ulvedal and Kirk Dryden, who are to continue in their roles as executive vice presidents and will serve leadership roles in the interiors group. Steve Swinney is joining KIG as executive chairman of the board, having been a co-founder and CEO of KBP.

“After careful consideration and partnership, this decision was made for Kodiak Interiors Group to capitalize on significant growth opportunities in the appliances and interiors market, enabling a more focused and specialized approach to operational excellence, customer service and local leadership,” Smith said in a news release. 

"Kodiak Building Partners has proven that success can come from a model that prioritizes growth through acquisition alongside local leadership and entrepreneurial independence," Swinney added in a news release. "Using this blueprint within the appliances and interiors market, we have no doubt that Jeff and the team at Kodiak Interiors Group will be able to take the business to new heights."

KBP plans to continue focusing on growth and innovation in the building materials industry.
