ZIP System’s newest rainscreen is a streamlined and easily installed solution for wall assemblies. To help promote drying between the cladding systems, a drainage plane and air gap are present. This single product allows builders to meet the code-requited 3/16” air gap and secondary water-resistive layer for stucco and adhered stone assemblies.

ZIP System rainscreen streamlines drainage and ventilation between sheathing and reservoir cladding systems. Drying withing the wall assembly is aided with a  ¼” drainage mat between the exterior wall sheathing system and the cladding system. The integrated secondary water-resistive layer uses heavy-duty fabric layer, which is installed outward against the cladding system. This is done for “reservoir” or “absorptive” cladding when taped at vertical seams with ZIP System flashing tape.

The rainscreen is made to withstand exposure during construction for up to 90 days and is durable. It features a rigid, entangled mesh screen design with high-compression strength. This allows the rainscreen to provide effective ventilation and drainage performance over time.

ZIP System rainscreen has a variety of wall cladding usage. This includes stucco, adhered stone, lap siding, fiber-cement siding, brick veneer, and wood siding. If used with reservoir claddings such as stucco, adhered stone, or thin brick veneer, vertical seams of the rainscreen must be taped with ZIP System flashing tape before mortar or the base coat are applied.
