  On being a third-gen owner:   We are going into our 84th year. My father had a stable of long-time subcontractors and vendors that worked with him for many years. But a lot of those vendors were on their second generation as well and didn’t have a third one to take over the business. So, I’ve had to find new, high-quality vendors­—plumbers, electricians, and so on— that will continue to uphold our values and quality. We have aligned ourselves with some younger companies that are able to adapt and fit into our processes, better than maybe the 40-year-old company that’s more set in their ways. Not to say there isn’t value with that company, but I hope to pass this company along to my sons one day, and want to ensure we are growing our subcontractors with us.
