We’re all looking for ways to be more efficient on the job and to use products that give our clients the best performance. It’s not always easy to find a product that does both, but we’ve found that KBRS products fit the bill.

The KBRS Tile-Basin in particular is one of our favorites. It’s a tileable shower base that eliminates the need for a mud bed and pre-slope that’s needed in traditional shower systems. I’ve installed so many other well-known brands, but those still require a certain amount of skill to make sure you’ve got a 100% leak-proof system. KBRS’s product makes it much easier and quicker to get the same result. I’d estimate it saves 3-5 hours of time per shower compared to a mud-bed system. 

With the KBRS Tile-Basin, I can order any size and configuration (curved, curbed, no curbs, diamond shaped, you name it), and it’s built to my specs. It comes pre-sloped, and it’s completely leak-proof from the start. Frame the walls around it, place thinset, set it down, connect it to a standard drain for tiled showers, and it’ll be 100% leak-proof. It can be done by anyone with (almost) any skill level, and it’s very light compared to a mud-bed system (no bags of mortar to drag).

I can place an order and typically in two weeks or less, I’ll have a customized shower pan. It’s insanely fast. There is a bit of lead time for the customization, but they do offer ShowerSlope, which comes pre-sloped without the waterproofing membrane coating or factory-installed flanges or curb, making it cut-to-fit in the field.
