Do Energy Efficient Homes Really Cause Asthma?

Building science expert Allison Bailes dissects a recent article in The Guardian that suggests “asthma could be worsened by energy-efficient homes.”

Bailes argues that the title is misleading, as the article’s deck (“Lack of ventilation caused by better insulation could create spike in indoor pollutants, research warns”) actually points to what the real problem is.

“Oddly, they attribute the lack of ventilation to better insulation rather than, say, the fact that no one thought to install a ventilation system,” Bailes writes.
