A team from design-build firm Hammer & Hand toured the Watzek House in Portland built in 1937, the second house to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The team was impressed with some passive house features that they called “ahead of its time. It featured double paned windows which were still not common at the time, as well as a passive ventilation system.
