Energy: Current Solar Technology Enough for Clean Energy Future

A new study out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology contends that solar technology today is already good enough, a rebuttal to popular claims that say current technology is not ready yet for mass use.

MIT’s 332-page report titled The Future of Solar Energy explains that “current crystalline silicon photovoltaic technology is capable of generating multi-terawatt-scale power by 2050,” TreeHugger reports.

The reports’ authors say that “solar electricity generation is one of very few low-carbon energy technologies with the potential to grow to very large scale.”
