Energy: The Bladeless Future of Wind Power

May 18, 2015

Building designers usually want to avoid vorticity, which Wired defines as an “aerodynamic effect that produces a pattern of spinning vortices.” But some Spanish developers saw an energy opportunity in this natural phenomenon.

Vortex Bladeless, a freshly-minted Spanish company founded by David Suriol, David Yáñes, and Raul Martín, wants to introduce vorticity into the construction of wind power generation, making blades unnecessary.

Instead, wind energy will be produced from tall pillars, in which wind will spin inside to produce energy.
