Remodeling Market Tightens as it Goes Digital

April 28, 2015

The already $300 billion remodeling industry is beginning a new boom as the slew of home renovation websites are digging deeper roots in the industry, CNBC reports.

Architects, design-build firms, contractors, product manufacturers, and artisans such as plumbers and electricians increasingly report that being on sites like Houzz, Porch, HGTV, DIY Network, and Dwell is important to their ability to compete.

"Most of us got into this remodeling business because we love the smell of sawdust, we love design, we're passionate about homes. Now we have to be experts in social media and all these other platforms," Bruce Case, president of Case Design/Remodeling, a Bethesda, Maryland-based firm, told CNBC. "There's a benefit to that, but the bottom line is, it is an added cost."
