Building Science: What’s Inside a Passive House Wall?

Portland-based builder and remodeler Hammer & Hand built a smaller-scale model of the passive house walls they create for real-life projects.

A 2-by-6 frame is filled with dense-packed cellulose and sheathed with Zipwall, which has the water-resistive barrier already applied, eliminating the need for tar paper or housewrap.
