Manhattan has the lowest percentage of people who commute by car (16 percent) than any other U.S. city. What would it look like if everyone in Manhattan drove instead of taking public transportation? The island would need about 48 new bridges each carrying eight lanes of traffic to handle the more than two million people that commute to the borough daily.
