Atlas Donates Materials to Operation FINALLY HOME to Honor Local Hero
Atlas Roofing teamed up with a grateful group of Americans in the College Station, Texas area to help put a roof over the head of an American hero. This Texas community came together in an effort to express appreciation to Sergeant Monte Bernardo for his sacrificial service to our country.
Operation FINALLY HOME organized this momentous opportunity for Sgt. Bernardo, who sustained life-changing injuries while serving in Afghanistan, and his 11-year-old daughter, Felicity. Their brand new home is located in the picturesque King Oaks development in Iola, Texas – a community neighboring College Station.
SouthStar Communities is the developer who made the donation of the lot possible to set the wheels in motion for the entire project. The company is actually the largest single producer of land loans for veterans, helping them achieve land ownership through low interest loans. The SouthStar effort was complemented by a $100,000.00 grant from The Newman's Own Foundation, and dozens of others who donated time, effort and materials to the project.
The roofing materials for the project came together with the help of Paul Vercher, the local Atlas Representative in the Houston area. He worked closely with Wholesale Roofing Supply Branch Manager, Wayne Scott, to craft the donation and delivery of the Atlas Signature Select Roofing System.
The installation went off without a hitch in a single day, thanks to Luke Bradicich, his partner Kurt Bradicich and Brandy Sanchez of Lone Star Roof Systems, LLC. Lone Star is a Texas Premier Roofer providing services in many of the major metros.
“Atlas provided Pinnacle Pristine shingles featuring Scotchgard Protector which are guaranteed not to show algae stains as long as Sgt. Bernardo lives in this house," said Atlas Roofing Vice President of Residential Sales and Marketing, Kirk Villar. "We are pleased to be able to show our appreciation in this small way,” he added.
Sgt. Bernardo and Felicity received the keys to their new home on March 22, 2014. They expressed heartfelt gratitude at all of the support shown by the community. “We’ve already developed friendships in King Oaks,” said Sgt. Bernardo.
