Vinyl Siding Institute, Inc. (VSI) President and CEO Jery Y. Huntley announced she will retire at the end of this year after leading the organization for 20 years.
“I am proud to have worked with so many professional, passionate individuals, companies, and staff as we improved product quality and maintained vinyl siding as the #1 choice for exterior cladding over the past two decades,” Huntley said. “I am excited about entering the next phase of my life knowing that our industry association is strong and our products are unrivalled.”
Huntley was named executive director of VSI in January 1995, when it was a business unit of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. In 2004, she facilitated the transition of VSI to an independent trade association for vinyl siding manufacturers and suppliers to the industry.
Based in Washington, DC, VSI represents more than 40 companies in the vinyl and other polymeric siding industries. Under Huntley’s leadership, VSI launched the VSI Product Certification Program, the VSI Certified Installer Program, and the America Sides with Vinyl marketing initiative. VSI’s product certification program provides third-party validation for approximately 98 percent of the vinyl siding manufactured in the United States and Canada, as well as polypropylene siding and insulated siding. More than 8,600 vinyl siding installers have been certified through the VSI Certified Installer Program since it was launched in January 2005. The America Sides with Vinyl marketing initiative educates builders, remodelers, architects/ designers, planners, and consumers on the benefits of vinyl and other polymeric siding.
Huntley has also led the industry’s social responsibility initiatives, overseeing more than $2.5 million in donations of siding, accessories, and training to Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates, the Fuller Center for Housing, and other nonprofit housing organizations.
Prior to joining VSI, Huntley served as a board member with the National Recycling Coalition; director of recycling for the Council for Solid Waste Solutions/American Plastics Council; national sales representative and director of government relations for Conservatree Paper Company; and earlier, supported current U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer, both as his first staff in his Congressional office and his New York State Assembly office.
Huntley will continue promoting effective meeting and association management by providing meeting facilitating consultation and performing executive coaching for industry, government, and non-profit clients.
VSI has retained Washington, DC-based executive search firm Vetted Solutions to oversee the process to select a new VSI president by January 1, 2015.
