Loose shingles indicate use of short roofing nails, inspector says

Shingles that protrude from a roof often mean that roofing nails used during installation were too short, according to a Minnesota home inspector. In areas where snow loads are part of the building code, the roof sheathing should be thicker, which means longer roofing nails are needed.
