Professional Remodeler's first Pinnacle Design Awards competition attracted excellent examples of what's right with the remodeling industry today. Innovation and style that overcome budget constraints. Skillful blending of new with old. Careful attention to detail and the clients' needs. And some really great-looking projects.
The entries in the six categories - baths; accessible and universal design; kitchens; historical renovations; whole-house remodels; and additions - covered a range of prices, from $74,000 for an emergency kitchen remodel after a fire all the way up to $1.1 million for an addition that doubled the size of the existing home.
The judges based their decisions on the following criteria:
- a creative design concept
- aesthetics
- clients' needs met
- unusual or specific problems solved
- relationship with the rest of the home and/or the neighborhood maintained
- cost-efficiency
- overall results
Each project was judged on its merits without consideration of the competition within its category. This first Pinnacle Design Award program resulted in three Gold Awards and three Silver Awards across just four of the six categories.
