The team needed a temporary project manager when I was in purchasing, so I raised my hand and took a shot. Feedback from clients and the team was so good that they offered me the position.
Business approach: In my purchasing role, I was successful because I always wanted to improve and wanted mutual respect. I took the time to have conversations that resulted in cost savings for both of us. I’d ask what we could do to save them money and time. Respect came because I understood what subs did and what it cost them.
