Best Practice: After a stint as an investment adviser, Martin was ready for a change and started as a sales rep with Thompson Creek in 2013. Hard work and an unswerving dedication to customer experience paid off, and in January she was made general manager of sales, the latest in a series of promotions. Martin is proud to work for an industry leader, and is especially passionate about Thompson Creek’s level of accountability. Recently, a customer purchased new windows for his entire home, and it was discovered that the vinyl was flawed on a couple of them. Although the majority of the windows were fine, Thompson Creek still replaced every one. Similarly, if a rep makes a measuring error that results in a lower quote, the company will honor the quoted price, regardless. “Even though we’re a large company, we’re family owned and it feels that way,” Martin says. “Customers recognize it.”
