Some homeowners in warmer climates want to air condition their garage, usually because they want to use it as a hang out spot as well. So how do you do it right?
Building science expert Allison Bailes, with the help of Austin home builder Matt Risinger, gives an example of how not to do it. Then, they break down the process of correctly air-conditioning a garage into two steps. Step one is to consider whether air conditioning the space is necessary at all in the first place.
Step two is to choose between a mini-split heat pump or air conditioner within the garage’s separate HVAC system and, if it will be used less frequently, a simple window unit.
