Trex Company, a manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing, recently was honored by the American Business Awards for its “Engineered Artistry” marketing campaign. The integrated campaign, which included print and digital media buys, a full website redesign featuring the category’s first responsive design and a comprehensive public relations initiative, won the American Business Award, known as the “Stevie Award," for Marketing Campaign of the Year in the Home Furnishings and Appliances category.
“Engineered Artistry is the artful combination of technology and beauty, form and function,” said Adam Zambanini, vice president of marketing for Trex. “With this campaign, Trex asserted its category leadership – not only through product innovation – but also through marketing that provides true value to consumers and professionals via interactive, thought-provoking content.”
At the heart of the campaign, Trex paired high-profile “engineers,” like New York High Line architect Lisa Switkin with well-known “artists,” including chef and television personality Tyler Florence, to candidly converse (on a Trex deck) about the idea of form and function and how they work together to create something beautiful, like a Trex outdoor living space. The campaign garnered millions of media impressions and drove hundreds of thousands of consumers to the Trex website.
The Trex campaign was one of 3,300 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry. With this achievement, Trex joins a notable list of other international companies that have previously won an American Business Award, including Acer Inc., Apple, BASF, BT, Ford Motor Company, ING, Procter & Gamble, Roche Group, and Samsung.
“Winning the prestigious Stevie Award is a reflection of the outstanding efforts of our entire marketing team,” Zambanini said. “This recognition validates our steadfast focus on delivering high-performance, exceptional outdoor living products and building a truly great brand for our customers.”
Founded in 2002, the Stevie Awards recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide. Finalists for the Steve Awards were chosen by more than 150 business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April and May.
