Best practice: To save time and bring in new business, Craig suggested using MarketSharp marketing and management software. After a meeting with a potential client, the system emails the homeowner, sends reminders to Craig, and schedules a direct-mail survey to be sent out after six weeks. MarketSharp can also add the homeowner to an e-newsletter list and send out mailers to past clients. In addition, Craig now mails a letter to the 20 or so homes nearest a new project. The letter explains that there’s a remodeling job being done in the neighborhood and that neighbors should notify Almar with any concerns about debris or parking. While the letter is sent as a courtesy to neighbors, it has the dual purpose of placing the company front and center in a homeowner’s mind. “We’re doing a project right now that came from that letter,” Craig says.
