reMarkable

I saw a peer using a reMarkable tablet at a meeting several months ago. She gave me some of the basics, and being a tactile note-taker, I was intrigued! I have always been a note-taker, but organizing my notes has been a challenge. Now I have completely abandoned all of my paper notes.

First, it was a yellow pad, but the pages would get lost if I ripped them out; then I graduated to a spiral for each major type of meeting, and that was too much. I decided to look into reMarkable and purchased two of them with the 100-day free trial and put one in my hands and one in my production manager’s hands. The device became an immediate must-have for both of us, and I have now purchased six of them.

What I love about it is that it’s a single device for all notes. I can share PDFs with others and even import PDF forms to fill out on the device, such as a lead sheet or floor plan. I organize notebooks by sales calls or potential clients, then can easily tag future pages with their names. The tablet keeps a charge for a week typically, and the pencil feels just like writing.

Unfortunately, it does not allow you to highlight or take photos to organize with your notes. But in rolling these out to my company, I learned that paper note-takers are easy adapters for the most part. My folks who prefer laptop notes don’t use it and it’s not a fit for my estimator who likes paper.
