Jerry Liu says home services specialist Dave Gedeos is a "communications champ." Gedeos earned the most Jacksons last year.

Every Friday during production meetings at D.G. Liu Contractor in Dickerson, Md., president Jerry Liu presents a $20 bill to any field employee who received top scores of 5 across the board on a job-completion survey.
Liu began the program five years ago and awarded 35 of these spot bonuses last year.
With so much competition for skilled labor in his market, he says it's important to reward employees and provide positive feedback. He reads each all-5s survey aloud, and the group recognizes "President Jackson" winners with applause and high-fives.
"The $20 is a token. It's more about the recognition from peers and the customer," Liu says. "The client is our best critic, and I tell our employees to treat the critic as their best friend. There is joking and some competition among the guys, but more than anything, they are engaged and focused on providing relentless service."
