Best practice: Contractors frequently blame OSHA for over-regulation, but Justin sees it differently. “OSHA is there to protect people’s rights,” he says. With that in mind, he went through every single protocol and created a safety handbook, which he uses for weekly talks with staff. These 10-to-15-minute informational sessions are designed to train everyone to use proper procedures, as well as create buy-in so employees take ownership of their own safety. Justin’s goal is for the whole production department to complete 10 hours of training and receive an OSHA card. His larger vision is to grow a safety program for CQC Home that will be the new gold standard in residential remodeling.
