Simpson Strong-Tie CTS218 Compression and Tension Strap

The CTS is designed to repair wood members, such as top plates, studs and trusses

January 18, 2012
This article first appeared in the PR January 2012 issue of Pro Remodeler.

As the first strap by Simpson Strong-Tie to handle both compression and tension, the CTS is designed to repair wood members, such as top plates, studs and trusses. A unique rolled-edge design allows the CTS strap to span gaps as wide as 4 inches while still fitting on the narrow face of 2x lumber. The CTS has been tested specifically for top/bottom plate repair, and meets the requirements of the IBC and IRC for repairing top plates that have been cut or notched to accommodate plumbing or HVAC ductwork.
