Best practice: With 25 full-time employees and strong growth, Michael is always on the lookout for new hires. He regularly attends recruitment events at local schools and tells potential employees, “We don’t just teach you the ‘how,’ we teach you the ‘why.’” Michael takes training seriously and instead of just stopping at sales techniques, he also teaches general business, networking skills, and marketing. He pays a referral bonus and, as a result, many of the people working for him knew each other first as friends. This has created a work environment where everyone tends to get along.
