Black stainless steel appliances are très hip right now, with most major manufacturers rolling out the option in 2017.
The undeniably sexy look started in Europe and is now grabbing 7 percent of the appliance market, according to the 2017 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study. That’s up from just under 4 percent in the third quarter of 2016. Aside from aesthetics, one big advantage of the black finish over traditional stainless steel is that it’s easier to clean and less prone to smudges.
Electrolux released its Frigidaire Gallery Black Stainless Steel Collection in July 2017—one of the more affordable options on the market. The line features eight appliances: two models each of fridge, wall oven, and range; a dishwasher; and a microwave. Each is designed to save homeowners time, whether it’s quick-heating ovens or a dishwasher door that stays open at any angle to make loading and unloading easier. The Gallery collection is also available in white, black, and traditional stainless.
