60-stop nationwide tour named top eight finalists.

December 05, 2013

Broan-NuTone, the leader in residential ventilation, concluded the ULTRA Pro Challenge, a 60-stop nationwide tour, this week in Indio, Calif. The eight contractors with the fastest times among the 60 location winners (final standings below) won an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas in February 2014, where they will compete for a 2014 Ford F150 grand prize.

The Challenge, which kicked off in Milwaukee Aug. 6, gave contractors hands-on experience with ULTRA Ventilation Fans, a revolutionary bathroom ventilation product that installs up to 60 percent faster in retrofits and up to 20 percent faster in new construction than comparable fans, increasing contractors’ profitability. More than 650 contractors throughout the country competed to install ULTRA Fans in the quickest time, while earning recommended ULTRA Pro contractor status.

The events, which attracted more than 3,000 contractors and other building professionals, were hosted by Broan-NuTone distributors across the country, including locations in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York and Philadelphia.

“The ULTRA Pro Challenge was a fantastic way to introduce this exciting product to contractors in their own backyards,” says home improvement expert Danny Lipford (pictured above left), host, “Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford.” “Instead of a typical training session, the Challenge gave contractors the chance to improve productivity and profitability while having some fun! When I competed in the Challenge myself, I was impressed by how quickly the winning contractors installed the fans in a typical retrofit environment.”
The final competition at IBS will take place in two heats of four contestants each, and the winners from each heat will face off in the championship. Lipford will host the competition and present the grand prize to the contractor with the fastest installation time.

“The ULTRA Pro Challenge was a huge success,” says Richard Palmersheim, group vice president, marketing, Broan-NuTone LLC. “We’re confident that ULTRA Fans are the ideal solution for residential bathroom ventilation, and we wanted contractors all across the country to experience it first-hand.”

Broan-NuTone will build off the success of this year’s Challenge by taking the ULTRA Fan on the road again next year. The 2014 ULTRA Pro Challenge will include 120 nationwide events, doubling the locations from 2013.

“ULTRA Fans feature the fastest, easiest, most universal installation to save contractors time,” says Palmersheim. “The ULTRA Pro Challenge proved the benefits of this product by allowing contractors to perform the easy installation in a fun setting, which the contest format provided.”

In addition to the straightforward installation, ULTRA Fans help meet stringent green building and ventilation codes. Homeowner benefits include extremely quiet operation at less than 0.3 sones, an energy-saving DC motor, two 18-watt ENERGY STAR qualified light bulbs and, now, the ability to detect humidity or motion.
