Every year, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers recognizes its top councils and members with the Council Award for Demonstrating Remodeling Excellence (CADRE). This year, four leading remodelers and councils were recognized with 2013 CADREs at this year’s Remodeling Show in Chicago.
The CADRE Awards, judged by members of NAHB Remodelers’ Board of Trustees, are presented to local remodelers councils and individuals whose work at the local level exemplifies the best practices of the remodeling industry. The CADRE Awards are the NAHB Remodelers’ highest national awards for work at the local level.
The Pella Corp. and Professional Remodeler sponsored this year’s CADRE Awards, which were held at the University Club of Chicago.
“Local NAHB remodelers councils across the nation support the accomplishment of professional remodelers with networking, education, and leadership development,” said NAHB Remodelers Chairman Bill Shaw, GMR, GMB, CGP and president, William Shaw & Associates, Houston, Texas. “The CADRE Awards celebrate their work and raise the bar for local excellence.”
Outstanding Council Chair: Todd Klippa, Builders Association of Metro Pittsburgh Remodelers Council
Klippa has been active in all of the program improvements that led to the remodelers council’s resurgence in interest and participation level. He was named Builders Association of Metro Pittsburgh’s 2012 Builder of the Year. He is a past chair of the remodelers council and has served as a member of Builders Associations of Metro Pittsburgh’s board of directors since 2010. Klippa was recently appointed to serve as vice president of the association.
Service Project: The Home Builders and Remodelers of Central New York
A Syracuse, N.Y., family received a welcome gift when the Peninsula Builders and Remodelers of Central New York undertook a remodel of their home. The association members completely renovated the home, which was in dire need of repair and renovation. The project also included landscaping to accommodate the special needs of the family members. The project co-leaders enlisted the support of the entire Syracuse community by recruiting skilled labor, requesting materials donations, sponsoring fundraisers, and creating an active public relations campaign.
CADRE Outstanding Associate Member: David Estreicher, Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders Remodelers
David Estreicher, honored as the Outstanding Associate Member, is a dedicated and loyal member of the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders Remodelers, the Home Builders Association of Alabama, and the NAHB Remodelers despite traveling for much of the time in his position with Style Crest over the last 20 years.
